Pittsburgh, PA — The Advanced Leadership Institute (TALI) has appointed Randy Dearth to its Board of Directors. Dearth brings more than 35 years of experience in the chemicals and materials industries, including leadership of global companies and extensive experience guiding organizations through growth, transformation and change. Additionally, Dearth has been a longtime supporter of TALI first by serving as an early co-chair from 2017-2018 and later as a Corporate CEO Council member. His appointment comes as TALI continues to expand its leadership development programs and strengthen its efforts to prepare and position Black leaders and their allies for advancement.

“I’m honored to return to TALI as a member of its Board of Directors and further contribute to an organization that is making a meaningful investment in the development of leaders,” said Dearth. “TALI recognizes that strong organizations and communities rely on strong leadership. I look forward to supporting its growing efforts to develop talented professionals and create opportunities for them to thrive.”

Dearth was recently the operating director with SK Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on chemical and material industries. In his previous roles, Dearth served as CEO at GCP Applied Technologies, Calgon Carbon Corporation, and LANXESS Corporation. Additionally, he served in executive roles at Bayer Chemicals Corporation.

“Randy brings an important history with TALI and depth of leadership experience and a perspective that will be incredibly valuable to the organization’s future success,” said Evan Frazier, president and CEO of TALI. “His career reflects the kind of strategic, cross-industry leadership that we seek to cultivate through our work, and his longstanding commitment to TALI and Pittsburgh makes him an especially meaningful addition to our Board. We are excited to welcome Randy and look forward to the expertise, relationships and insight he will bring.”

Dearth holds a master’s degree in polymer science and engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hiram College. Beyond his corporate career, Dearth has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to the Pittsburgh region through his involvement with organizations including Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, the Warhol Museum, the Energy Innovation Center, the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, the Bender Leadership Academy and United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

TALI’s Board of Directors brings together leaders from across the corporate, philanthropic and community sectors to help advance the organization’s mission and strategic priorities. Dearth’s addition further strengthens the Board’s depth of corporate leadership and its connection to Pittsburgh’s broader business and civic community.
