The National Executive Leadership Academy is an executive development program for senior leaders.
The National Executive Leadership Academy (NELA) academy equips senior leaders to drive strategic impact, lead across complex global organizations, and navigate the future of business with confidence.
Who should apply?
Black leaders and their allies who are senior-level managers and executives are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have 10+ years of work experience in corporate, nonprofit, government, or entrepreneurial sectors with business function in any US market, demonstrated leadership, and a strong desire to achieve professional excellence. A bachelors degree is required, while advanced degrees are preferred.
This program is open to professionals from all ethnic and racial backgrounds in accordance with our Statement of Assurance.
When is the program?
February - June 2027
There will be 2, one-week in person sessions in February and June, 4 online sessions in March and May, and 1, two-day in-person conference in April.
Where is this located?
Hybrid | Online & In Person
The February and June sessions will occur at Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business in Pittsburgh, PA, and the April conference will occur in Charlotte, NC. The March and May sessions will occur online.
How much does it cost?
$20,000
Limited scholarships are available to participants who qualify.
Academic Instruction
Participants receive in-person and online instruction from faculty from Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business and other top business schools, as well as renowned industry experts.
Executive Coaching
Participants will have the opportunity to work with executive coaches who individualize the content, ensuring immediate application.
Executive Mentoring
Participants will receive mentor support to guide development and provide access to sponsorship.
Peer Networking & Alumni Engagement
Participants will develop a national peer network. Upon graduation, participants will receive ongoing support and connection for continued personal and professional growth through the distinguished TALI® Alumni Network.

Continuing the Leadership Journey
Participants who successfully complete the program receive a Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business Certificate and join the distinguished TALI® Alumni Network. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to earn Tepper Executive Education Units (TEUs) - these can count towards the Carnegie Mellon University Certificate in Executive
Leadership (+AI).
