Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — The Advanced Leadership Institute (TALI) — a leading force in the effort to develop corporate leaders while strengthening companies, institutions, and communities — is pleased to announce the hiring of Joyce Howard as its new Vice President of Development and Corporate Partnerships. Ms. Howard took on this new role on July 8, 2025, and will lead TALI’s efforts in fundraising to advance its programming.

Joyce Howard brings a unique blend of development expertise and strategic partnership experience to TALI. Most recently serving as Business Development Manager at Innovation Works, the region’s leading technology-based economic development organization, she led comprehensive fundraising strategies and managed high-impact programs including the BNY UpPrize Social Innovation Challenge, successfully bridging funders, partners, and community stakeholders to amplify regional economic impact.
Her diverse professional journey began at The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where she developed her foundational skills in storytelling and community engagement. This background, combined with her legal training and development experience, has shaped her distinctive approach to designing programs, building strategic partnerships, and aligning resources to drive sustainable organizational and community change.
Ms. Howard holds a Juris Doctorate with a concentration in Economic Development and Non-Profit Organizations and a BA in Print Journalism and Political Science from Duquesne University. She completed TALI’s Executive Leadership Academy at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and earned a Professional Coaching Certificate from Duquesne University’s Palumbo Donahue School of Business.
Ms. Howard serves on the boards of Catapult Greater Pittsburgh and the Duquesne University Alumni Advisory Council. She also volunteers with several organizations, including Reading is Fundamental Pittsburgh. She is a member of the Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., celebrating 30 years of membership in 2025. Through her strategic vision and commitment to fostering inclusive growth, Ms. Howard continues to build vibrant community connections across the region.
